IMAKE ANNOUNCES COMPANY NAME TO CHANGE TO BEVIE

Imake, a New Zealand based company specialising in the manufacturing and global distribution of homebrewing products and ingredients, are excited to announce a company name change effective 31 January 2018.

Imake, winners of the 2015 NZ Food & Beverage Exporter of the Year Award and finalist in 2017 NZ Innovation Awards, is the innovative, Kiwi born company behind brands such as; Mad Millie – handmade artisan food kits, The Grainfather – an all in one brewing system to make craft beer at home, Mangrove Jack’s – premium quality beer making kits, and Still Spirits – everything you need to make your own handmade spirits and liqueurs.

In 2017, Imake acquired UK based SPL International, their key supplier for ingredients, bringing two companies together as one. A huge feat for a company that started as a small homebrewing store in Petone, Wellington. As part of their strategy to work more seamlessly together, a fresh, corporate name was deemed necessary for the group, which now spans worldwide. SPL International, based not far from Manchester, UK, has been serving the homebrew and commercial drinks industry since 1992. Imake currently has offices and distribution via wholly owned or third party arrangements in New Zealand, Australia, USA, the UK and Europe, and their products can be found in over 40 countries globally.

Bevie, is a unique name which alludes to alcoholic beverages, which the two companies are specialists in and a huge part of both their success. The new logo uses fresh colours and a quirky slogan ‘Partners in Craft’ to play up the company’s innovative, fun way of conducting business with customers, consumers, and suppliers. It also alludes to the definition of ‘bevy’ which is the collection or bringing together of a group of similar things. With both companies also experts across supplying equipment and ingredients in the alcoholic drinks industry, this name suits well.

Peter Eastwood, founder and CEO of Imake (now Bevie) says;

“Bevie’s vision is to provide the world with innovative homebrew products, DIY food products, and commercial drinks manufacturers, which change the way people engage with food and beverages like never before”.

With joined proficiencies and a united cause, there is more innovation and collaboration happening than ever before. This is an exciting milestone for the company as it looks to combine the skills and specialities of each company, capitalise on the location advantages, and further expand and serve customers globally. Almost 30 years after starting the homebrew store in Petone, Peter has led the company while watching it constantly grow and evolve.

Imake’s partnership with SPL International is the next step in being able to provide such innovative and exciting foods and beverage products on a global scale, at an even more compelling level than individually before.
